Training programs offered by Tioga Retrievers:

Tioga Retrievers offers two programs. To insure quality of training and care we only take a limited number of dogs. We encourage owner participation at all levels and also encourage dogs to return annually for refresher courses and physical conditioning.

Basic Training Program

This is our standard training program. This program takes on the average 6-9 months. Your dog upon completion will be through the yard and running simple cold blinds. They also will honor, be steady, be capable of multiple retrieves on land and water. Your dog will be ready to run a lower or intermediate level hunt test. Your dog also will be ready to go on to more advanced training for a AKC Master, AKC Qualifying Stake or onto AA level professional trainer.

Intermediate/Advanced Training Program

The intermediate/advanced level training is designed to follow the basic training program. Concentrated obedience work, along with steady retrieving, is the focus at this stage. All dogs start simple basic multiple marking along with transition drills. These drills are the foundation for blind work; dogs after transition are able to complete an AKC senior hunter test. In the Advanced stage dog’s get more complicated marking and blind work; upon completion they can complete a master hunter test.

3 months all inclusive for $550 per month

-Monthly topical flea and tick plus heartworm medication
-Birds
-Obedience
-Force Fetch
-Electric collar conditioning
-Simple single retrieves on land
-Simple single retrieves on water
-Dogs are made steady
-Introduced to decoys

Your dog will easily be able to accompany you to retrieve your downed birds. This program also ties in nicely to our Basic Training Program if you so choose additional training.

Rates

Training will be $600 per month. Multiple dogs with the same client will receive a discount. Months will not be pro-rated. If your dog is sent home early an adjustment will be made.

-Frontline and Interceptor $16.00
-Birds $12.00
-Vet trip and airport trip charge $50
-Handling fee at tests: Master $75
-Junior and Senior $50
-Mileage charge for tests will be $.65 per mile. That along with hotel expenses will be split among the dogs on the truck.
-Day training is available at $20.00 per handler. Limit to 2 dogs please.

-Returned Checks

$25.00 charge for all returned checks.
