Dog training programs offered by Tioga Retrievers:

Tioga Retrievers offers four programs. To insure the quality of training and care we only take a limited number of dogs. We encourage owner participation at all levels and also encourage dogs to return annually for refresher courses and physical conditioning.

 

***Basic/Intermediate Dog Training Program***

This is our standard retriever training program. This program takes on the average 6-12 months. Your dog upon completion, will be through the yard and running simple cold blinds on land and water. They also will honor another dog working, be steady to shot, and be capable of multiple retrieves on land and water. Your dog will be ready to compete at a lower or intermediate level hunt test. Your dog also will be ready to go on to more advanced training, (see our Advanced program), for a AKC Master title, UKC Finished title, AKC Qualifying Stake or on to a AA level professional trainer. As a hunting companion, your dog will be a good all around worker and able to retrieve multiple marks, run blinds, quietly honor another dog working and is steady to shot.

 

***Advanced Dog Training Program***
In the Advanced program dog’s will work on more complicated marking and blind concepts. This program will take (6-8 months). Upon completion, your dog can enter a AKC Master test, UKC Finished test or AKC Qualifying stake. As a hunting companion your dog will be the ”Cadillac” of hunting retrievers.  No task will be too large or difficult for him in the duck blind or field.

 

*** Basic Gun Dog ***
3 months all inclusive for $550 per month
-Monthly topical flea and tick plus heartworm medication
-Birds
-Obedience
-Force Fetch
-Electric collar conditioning
-Simple single retrieves on land
-Simple single retrieves on water
-Introduced to decoys

Your dog will easily be able to accompany you to retrieve your downed birds. This program also ties in nicely to our Basic Training Program if you so choose additional training.

 

*** All Breed Dog Obedience Training ***

This program has two options.

A two weeks all on a lead program which includes the commands “Here, sit, down, heel and off”. $400

A four week program all off lead with the same commands. $630.

*** “Developing the Potential” in your Puppy Program ***

This program was developed to raise your puppy in the best environment to bring it to it’s genetic potential.  Puppies from 7 weeks to 6 months are eligible for this program.  This program offers…

-Being raised in our home up until 6 months.
-Socialization with other dogs, people and events outside our home
-Obedience
-Crate training
-House breaking
-Working in the field or pond everyday
-Fun casting drills
-Fun lining drills
-Retrieving birds including shot flyers
-Retrieving something every day

The price is $550 per month. Birds, vet trips, and medications are extra.

Rates
Training will be $600 per month. Multiple dogs with the same client will receive a discount. Months will not be pro-rated. If your dog is sent home early an adjustment will be made.

-Topical flea and tick and heartworm preventative $16.00
-Birds $12.00
-Vet trip and airport trip charge $75
-Handling fee at tests: Master $75, Junior and Senior $50
-Mileage charge for tests will be $.75 per mile. Mileage and hotel expenses will be split among the dogs on the truck.
-Day training is available at $20.00 per handler. Limit to 2 dogs please.
-Private one on one lessons by appointment, $50.00

-Returned Checks
$25.00 charge for all returned checks.
